I'm really into the sparkle heart! It's extra fancy.
Where do you call home?
Originally, I'm from New Canaan, CT, but I've actually lived in 4 different cities around the country (Boston, NYC, San Francisco, and DC) and each one feels a little bit like home to me.
Health and fitness are obviously integral parts of your life. Have you always been passionate about them? What first inspired you to get involved in the fitness industry?
I've always been an active person, but my introduction into the fitness world was actually through dance. I have a background in theatre and I grew up dancing my whole life. When I first found SoulCycle I was amazed at how similar it felt to dancing (we ride to the beat of the music), and that's when my passion for fitness was ignited.
How would you describe your overall approach to health and fitness?
Overall, I would describe my approach to health and fitness as relaxed. I think it's important to listen to your own body, and be patient with it. I'm a big fan of setting small weekly goals (something like "this week I'm going to take a yoga class") that will make you feel successful.
What health-minded activities do you do outside of teaching?
I teach about 13 SoulCycle classes a week, so sometimes it's hard to find the time (and energy) to do other activities, but I try to sneak in some yoga classes when I can! When I lived in San Francisco I loved to go hiking, but East Coast weather isn't as agreeable!
What are some of your go-to workout tunes?
It's hard to narrow it down to just a few! Music is our heartbeat at SoulCycle, and I'm constantly researching, downloading, and mixing new tunes for every class I teach. But if I HAD to choose, Messiah by I See Monstas, Tambourine by Eve, and Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding are all favorites.
We know instructors often work crazy hours, and can live a very hectic and active lifestyle -- how do you stay balanced and organized in your personal life and your work life?
To stay balanced I always make time for recovery. Whether that means foam-rolling or even just sitting on my couch and decompressing for a few hours, I build that time into every single day.

French fries are my favorite forever.
Who would win in a bar fight: tacos or ice cream?
Tough choice, but I'm gonna say tacos because they seem feistier.
It's Friday night. Where are you?
Saturday is a work day for me, so Friday nights are always relatively chill. Usually, I'm at home catching up on my various TV addictions (Modern Family, The Walking Dead, and Transparent, among many others)

What would you say is the most important lesson fitness has taught you?
I think it's important for everyone to remember that fitness isn't just about making you feel better physically, it's also about making you feel better mentally. You can train for hours and hours every day, but if you don't start thinking of yourself as a strong, powerful person, you're not going to feel any different.
