In case you've been living under a rock for the past few days, the one and only Queen Bey dropped a new album. And she also dropped the mic. In a multiple ways. Can you say SLAAAAY?
Aside from the fact that Beyonce completely revolutionized how we listen to and appreciate music by launching her album with a groundbreaking visual component as well, she’s also killing the game in terms of addressing female empowerment, love, betrayal, and even political issues. Our emotions were running amuck as we stared open-mouthed at our screens for the full hour and five minutes (although let's be real, we binge-watched Lemonade harder than any Netflix show...). Here are some of our favorite lyrics and moments from the Queen's new jaw-dropping songs.
"Prayin' I catch you whispering..." - Pray You Catch Me
Our hearts ached for Bey as she alluded (pretty clearly) to Jay-Z's cheating habits. And then our hearts were suddenly in our stomachs as she tumbled off a building... Only to plunge in slow motion into a dark, watery abyss. We were mesmerized, to say the least.
"What's worse, looking jealous or crazy? / Jealous or crazy? / Or being walked all over lately, walked all over lately / Well I'd rather be crazy." - Hold Up
Now Béyonce has a little more pep in her step, as she (literally) unleashes all of her grievances. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Bey is pissed, and rightfully so.
Naturally, she deals with her anger by taking a baseball bat to everything in sight. And laughing as she does so. #winning
There was also that time that she literally threw her wedding ring at the camera. Shade = thrown. That reminds us of that other popular song she had back in the day... Something along the lines of "If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it." Ugh, Bey, you always keep us on our toes.
"We built sand castles that washed away / I made you cry when I walked away / And although I promised that I couldn't stay, baby / Every promise don't work out that way, oh, babe" - Sandcastles
But then we were totally caught off guard by the intimate videos of her, Jay-Z, and even home videos of lil' Blue Ivy. This soft side may or may not have made us tear up a little. And, wait, is she saying she might consider forgiving Jay? So. Many. Feels.
Regardless of what happens to this power couple, we'll be jammin' to Lemonade all summer long, that's for sure.
