Meet Zara Terez Tisch
Hi! I'm Zara - I have three spectacular children (5 and under), 3 dogs and a life roommate (aka my husband David). I love being around people, baking (the more color & difficulty - the better), throwing events and binging on hours and hours of period dramas. Oh yeah - I also founded Terez from my parents basement in 2008.@zaratisch
What does joy mean to you?
Joy is something that fills up your bucket - that floods your body with indescribable energy - and for me, helps to keep me focused on the GOOD parts of life.
What are some of the small things you celebrate?
Great conversations, the perfect hue, going to the bathroom without being interrupted.
Tell us about a really special time in your life, and why you treasure it.
I will never forget this moment. In 2013, we did a trunk show at a local store. There were tons girls who came to see our new collection and meet me and our team. It was wonderful to connect with so many new people. I then noticed a young girl crying in the corner. She was very upset. Her friend walked over to console her and ask her what was wrong. I heard her say, "I do not know why, but so many of the kids are mean to me and make fun of me." Her friend responded, "Do not pay attention to those people. Look where we are and what Terez stands for. You need to do what makes you happy and be exactly who you are." (this came from an 11 year old girl!) I, then, noticed the two girls see that I overheard their conversation and they ran over and gave me a hug. I knew, at that moment - we were doing something right and we needed to continue to do it and spread our message.
We all have trying moments. What is something positive you did or chose to focus on to keep you moving forward?
Terez was born out of trying moments in my life. There is always a choice. I could have chose to let the darkness take over my life - but I didn't want that. I knew I needed to do something, create something. I wasn't sure what it was. But I needed to DO something that made ME feel HAPPY and in turn others as well. That's how Terez was born.
Tell us about someone who's been a positive influence
in your life.
My husband, David. The most supportive, funniest, thoughtful and excellent multitasker I know. He is so selfless and only focuses on what he can do on a daily basis to make my, our children and our family's life better. My number one cheerleader, who has taught how truly GOOD people can be.
Last but not least: what's your favorite cake flavor?
Carrot cake, coffee cake, allll the warm spices!!! And just cake in general :)Read More Joy Stories
